Greetings from Savignano sul Rubicone! is a photographic project done in collaboration between the municipal library of Savignano sul Rubicone and a group of 23 secondary school students between 11-13 years old. Using the library’s archive of about about 500 historical postcards of the city, its venues and views, its people and the most typical events, the pupils were invited to search the streets and find the same views of the postcards in order to take a new picture. They were asked to reproduce the same perspectives, choosing the same hours of the day, observing the similarities and reflecting on the changes they may have noticed.
The pupils were provided with the basic notions of the language of photography and the use of the camera – but also of smartphones – as a communicative and creative tool of storytelling; they analysed the postcards to approach the City’s history.
Greetings from Savignano sul Rubicone! reflects the current views of the city: new postcards able to share long distance greetings and testify a history and a fluid identity.
